Uploading Files: Supported formats, file size limits, etc.

We support most, if not all, standard audio and video file formats, but if in doubt - convert your file to a .mp3. We’d honestly be surprised if you found a file format we didn’t support.

You can upload files up to 2GB each. We have not yet heard about a need to upload larger files than this. If you have larger files than this, we recommend cutting it into two. If you encounter any problems with this, feel free to send us an email.

Speaker Labelling: How to use and what to expect + how to troubleshoot any related issues

Using speaker labels is easy.

Once upgraded to Professional, you’ll find the option to enable our speaker labels via clicking on the three dots in the top right corner when viewing a transcript, then click on the switch next to ‘Show speakers’

After enabling this feature, Good Tape will automatically split up and distinguish between any and all speakers within your tape.

Transcripts made before upgrading will not have the speaker labelling process enabled, so be sure to re-upload any recordings you’d like with speaker labels after upgrading.

Further, if need be, you can edit the names of the speakers by clicking directly on the labels themselves.

Additional languages: How to ensure the correct language is transcribed etc.

At times, our automatic language detection can find itself translating or mis-transcribing your tape in a different language to what is expected. If you find yourself in this position, be sure to select the correct language from the language drop down list prior to transcription. This way you can ensure our AI transcribes in that given language.

Downloading Transcriptions: Available formats, how to download, etc.

With Good Tape, we have different download options available:

To download, the process is very simple. Just click on the three dots in the right corner of your transcript in https://goodtape.io/tapes and you’ll find the download button.

Further, you can also perform custom exports. Custom exports will allow you to preview the contents before downloading, and for subtitling, will allow you to change and see the character lengths per line. You’ll also see the option for custom exports via clicking on the three dots in the top right corner.
